Hi Team POV! This is Rachel Le.
I would like to tell you a few things that I think may help your case that students should be more involved in Social Studies.
My dad, uncles, and grandparents on that side are from Vietnam. They came over to the United States during the war. I literally would not have been born if the US hadn't gotten involved in the war.
On my mom's side, I am descended from the Latter-Day Saint Pioneers. My great times something grandfather, Joseph Lazarus Matthews, was one of the first whites to enter the Salt Lake Valley. He was one of the scouts Brigham Young sent to make sure it was habitable.
I strongly agree that Social Studies are, and should be, a major part of our lives.
Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Check out Rachel's Community Problem Solving Project, "What If?"
What If? is a project to increase the chances of social success for students with high-functioning autism (HFA). My main goal is to put in place a group for HFA students and those who want to help them.
HFA can be a serious problem for someone who has it. I should know; I have it myself. While people with HFA generally have average to above average intelligence, we often don't understand social situations. Things such as body language, facial expressions, sarcasm, and rhetorical questions tend to escape us.
As a result of this lack of an ability to read social cues, we are often bullied by those who don't understand our difficulties. What If? would help to both teach my peers social skills and build a bridge over the gap between us and those who don't have HFA.
I have a survey at bit.ly/newgroupsurvey to determine when and where the group mentioned above should meet. I also have an email address and a Twitter account for my project. The email address is whatifhfa@gmail.com and the Twitter account is @WhatIf05526319.
